The Path To Now
When I woke up the morning after my last day in corporate, I felt like I had jumped off of a cliff and I was free falling toward the beautiful blue water. I was excited, thrilled to be “working for myself”, looking forward to the future, but also terrified, not sure what was going to happen next or even what was supposed to happen.
The last five months have been a series of interesting, confusing, and insightful learning experiences.
I’ve gotten “better” at social media. I’ve spoken with new people. I’ve been inspired by their energy for living a better life and they’ve seemed to connect with my messages about how to not be controlled by limiting beliefs and/or thoughts.
I’ve overcome a lot. A lot of fear of expressing who I am, a lot of facing my desire to please and what it means to feel unworthy of the space you inhabit.
I’ve struggled a lot. I’ve struggled to figure out why I was struggling so much with what to do in the business, how to meet more people and how to really get a conversation going.
In mid-December, I was frustrated and trying to figure out what the hell I was doing. I had a handful of happy clients but I was getting bored at not having enough to do. I couldn’t figure out why I didn’t want to reach out to anyone and I was still apprehensive about truly getting out there. What was happening? Was I lost? Was this it?
Evolution and Revelation
Just like I tell my clients, contrary to the way we talk about it, it’s so rarely a specific moment that “is change”. More often, change happens with a seemingly subtle shift that ends up being massively impactful. The work I was doing to slow my thoughts, tune into my emotions, and to be guided by them had stopped being “work” and now I was able to listen and hear.
I have struggled with confidence for my whole life. The most transformative thing that has “happened” to me (as an adult) is becoming more self-aware. The best things I have done have been fueled by the strength and courage that comes from knowing myself.
My passion for this was evident in all the work I was doing. I’d set out to help someone prepare for an interview and we’d end up talking about how they could empower themselves by interviewing the interviewer. I’d be helping someone to understand what they wanted to do next in their career and afterward, they would feel more confident about having a difficult conversation with a friend.
Supporting people to feel more confident, helping them to find their voice and to start to heal their feelings of unworthiness is the most important and interesting thing I can do. At first, I think I was afraid that it didn’t fit neatly into my career plan. The truth is, it fits perfectly into my life path.
So, if you’re familiar with the site and my work, you’ll see some shifting. I’m still helping individuals and small businesses. The difference now is that I have the confidence to truly focus on helping people to find their way – whether that is at work or otherwise.
The Path Forward
As a Confidence and Empowerment Coach, I help people who are hiding. They feel overwhelmed, anxious, and misunderstood. They want to find their voices, stop feeling like imposters in their own lives and to live and take action from a place of feeling worthy. I help them to do this and to go after the things that are most important to them.
Often it’s the most practical things that have the greatest impact on our day to day lives. I’m looking forward to helping people with how to have difficult conversations with their family, friends, co-workers, and customers, how to do better in meetings, how to say what they think more often, how to be a better listener, how to use their time more effectively, how to use their emotions (rather than feel controlled by them) in making decisions, and how to use mindfulness practises to feel at peace and less worried.
With everything that we have access to, we are expected to live amazing and beautiful lives. Of course, we want this but how many of us know how? Of course, I don’t have THE answer, but using my co-active coaching and emotional intelligence training I can show people how to tap into what may work for them and I can’t imagine anything more exciting than that!
