I know that maybe the last place you want to put dedicated time and effort in is at work. But, just like it’s easier to start to run if you get your running shoes on and stand on the outside of your front door (than it is if you’re sitting on the couch), if you can pick one or two things that you’re willing to really put effort into, it will help you to gain momentum and a bit of motivation so you can start to make larger shifts and changes that will ultimately put you on the path to your more fulfilling life.
Maybe there is one project (or part of a project) you can commit to really focusing on. Maybe there is one person you work with, who you don’t hate and you can commit to doing your best to helping or getting to know more. It doesn’t really matter what you pick – just commit to really giving it your all and doing your best.
After you do this for a few days or a week or two, check in with you. Allowing yourself to engage with an activity and the results that come from that will be motivating and once you have that small boost you can start to explore what is possible for you and what a plan to get there could look like.
